Default Problems starting....starter?

ok my 84 mustang was working the other night i drove to my friends house and back and had no problem. Now about 3 nights ago my cars battery died because i left my interior lights on. So that night i jumped the car and it worked fine since then. So yesterday i went to start my car to go to class and nothing...it just clicked once and that was it. I thought the battery was worth checking even though my lights all work so i took it to autozone to test. Battery turned out to be good. The starter seems like it could be the problem but i had that replaced in the past few months. Any ideas what could be wrong?

solenoid fried. try turning the key and touching the two studs with a screw driver. be careful to not shock yourself. if this doesnt work check your grounds.

Well a quick way to see if it is a starter have someone hit the starter while the other person tries to crank it. But i had the same problem with my car and it was a bad solenoid

you starter has two parallel "tubes", the larger being the actually starter motor, the smaller on with the electrical connections is the solenoid. like 5.0mpg said take an insulated screwdriver and touch the two posts together and see if that starts it. dont get shocked, it hurts worse than you can imagine

My bet is the cable is corroded from the relay to the starter, Jumper cables can help test this or if you wiggle the wire enough sometimes you can get it to fire. Either way the cable is cheap and would not be a bad idea to pull the starter to have tested anyway.

Id start with jumping the starter, as the other have said. Its on the drivers side of the engine bay. Im sure someone has a pic of it on there to help you out.

Ok thanks for the suggestions ill try a few of these out tomorrow morning starting with the cable going from the relay to the starter. Im nearly positive the starter is good since its just been replaced. You said jumper cables are used to test the coroded cable? how do i do that?
