what am i doing wrong
so i can't get the harmonic balancer off. the engine is on a stand. i have been told to connect the flywheel back on and jam a pry bar between the tooth and the stand so that the crank won't turn. so i did that and broke one of the harmonic balancer puller bolts off into the balancer. i also have to use the pulley becuase the bolts that came with the puller kit are too long. is there something if done wrong or is there another way. thanks

Impact wrench to get the balancer bolt off, then a puller to remove it from the crank. If your puller bolts are too long... go buy shorter ones at Lowes or Home Depot. A little penetrating oil never hurts either. Sounds like you have a mess on your hand now with the broken bolts.

RE: what am i doing wrong
the puller attaches to the crank pulley holes and a pointed tip goes on the screw portion that fits in the bevel of the crank threads...and soak the keyway area with PB blaster.....make sure you removed the 15/16 bolt first with an impact

well i got it off. i went to work (a small time shop) and got the right size screws and pulled it off. i think i wasn't on the crankshaft i was on the harmonic balancer. i had the tip on the balancer which looks like a pencil tip on it. anyway i put a penny up against the crankshaft so that i would mess up the threads becuasuse the puller went inside the crankshaft adn it came right out. newbie. anyway i got the whole thing torn down. just ready for the install. (the hard part) wish me luck
