Decide what your goin to do first. HP will be between 160 and 800.

302 build will be cheaper...

408 build will make more power...

408 requries some conversion pieces (possible hood, mounts, distributor, et al.)

If you really had everything in line to build a good 408 you wouldnt have a question. ie: Big Heads Cam Huge injectors or big carb. 408 is not for the weak of heart.

i want to build the 408 for a 150 bucks i got a 351w out of a 94 F150 so im lookin at cost wise for everything that its going to cost. the money isnt really a big deal its what im going to have to do like wiring harness wise how much work am i going to have to do, and if i was going to do a 408 will i be able to put a supercharger on it to cuz id be afraid of blownin the cylinder walls out. all im basically askin is what would be the best combo of goodies to put on mainly is what im trying to say and how much work will it be to hook eveything up. and Hp wise i want to go with as much as i can pump out of it. thanks for all the answers.

I have had a built 347 and now have a built 408 and prefer the 408. Never had a 331, so I can't comment on that combo.

I will let you know about the 383w I will fire up tomorrow, but if money is not the issue, then is a dart block in the plans? if so then you can go with either the 347 or a 408 and make enough power to smack down most anything with a pair of turbos. I guess that we need to know what ur budget cap is. I currently have 6grand in my 383w swap.

I love my 347, it makes my heavy *** car actually get up and go! (But it ate another flat-tappet cam so its torn apart right now) I am going to be switching it over to a roller cam now.
