IF i REMEMBER RIGHT when installing 289 heads or 60's heads on a late model roller block.. steam holes need to be drilled in the block to parrallel that of the ones in the heads

WHEN YOU BUy fel-pro gaskets.. there is a little white slip of paper in the package that gives you torque sequence and specs and it mentions briefly about when installing early heads on a later block the mod that needs to be performed.. most overlook this detail

the steam holes are there to provide adequate cooling to the heads if you don't put them in....it's a possibility it'll run hotter than desired

you'll have to have the gaskets for the 289 heads and lay them down on the block surface and where the holes are in it mark it with a marker and drill them.. I believe tere a 4 per side to do = 8 total
