Default RE: valve cover clearance?

If they are the stock H.O. EFI valve covers then yes you should be able to keep them you just have to cut out the oil baffles.

Default RE: valve cover clearance?

I just did a a head/intake swap using Gt40 tubular and Gt40 Y heads. I did not have to clearance the oil baffle what so ever. I used the stock Ford Motorsport valve cover gaskets (rubber with steel core) and no clearance issues.

Just to be safe though, I got some play dough, and put it between the number 1 rockers and the oil baffle, I then bolted down the valve cover without any gasket. I then turned the motor by hand several times, and then checked the play dough. There was a very small impression in the play dough, but nothing too drastic.

I would suggest that you try the same.
Because the Cobra RRs don't have an adjustable nut on the top, they don't seem to have clearance issues.

Hopefully this helps you out.
