Default hesitation and then power at 3000rpm?!?!

hey guys i have an 88 mustang gt bored 20 over comp cam port and polish bored throttle body chiped ecu and mass air conversion. sometimes the car will have bad lag and then at 2500-3000rpm the car jumps like a powerband....anyone have any ideas what this might be or how to fix this...i dont think it is the timeing but i might be wrong, looking for some more opinions.

well i bought the car built and the two people that had it never drove it that much to give me any answers at all, they drove it so little that they didnt even know the car shook really really bad at 65mph, but the hesitation thing has been happening since i have got the car, i ahve retarded and advanced the timing and that doesnt seem to help, any ideas?

you have converters? if you do, they may be stopped up

mines an 88 as well, tho my engine isnt built ..im having the same issue..the whole hesitation and powerband feeling thing around 3g ...if you figure it out let me know so i can try it on mine...good luck!
