I've read numerous tranny fluid idea's here and will go with royal purple in my 87 5.0 with a t5.I was wondering can you refill the tranny from the shifter housing under the console as I am going to a short throw shifter and received 2 quarts of royal purple.thanks again all for your help.

Yes, you can, but it takes 2.5 quarts so have an extra.

yeah you need to buy another quart. put a drain pan under the trans and take the fill plug out. fill it from the shifter and once it starts dribbling out your done. put the plug in and put your new shifter on, dont forget to use rtv on the shifter and dont goob it on thats no good a nice thin coat will do basically to the point where you can almost see through the rtv

^thats the best way to do it.

I filled mine through the fill plug with a pump, takes a little longer
