Default 95 5.0 cooling system

So today i was looking through some parts for the cooling system and I realized there is a sensor that screws into the radiator to trigger the fan and such. I'm not 100% sure if my car has one built in the harnass but I don't see the little round 2 pin plug. My fan does not come on when the car heats up it will just run hot. the temp guage works fine. So my question is, does my 95 need some kind of sensor on the radiator to trigger the fan? or. What triggers the fan to come on.

The KOEO test kicks the fan on low then high so i know it works. it does come on when u flip the AC on. I'm stuck again.

Worked on a friends '94 with the same problem and couldn't figure it out. Ended up installingthe twinBlack-Magic fans on it with thermostat control and it works fine, actual better than stock.

You have a AC pressure switch which turns the fan but you should also have a temp switch as well.

and I was looking at the black magic systems they are nice and i will likely go with one and a new 2 core radiator. Gotta figure out the reserve for the coolent though. It won't fint a new fan and another core AND the reserve between the front and the drive pully's

C178 I believe but would need to look at it. I am pretty sure this is the issue if the KOEO test resulted in the fan coming on, seems like the PCM is not getting the signal to turn the fan on. Can you snap a couple of pics, or maybe someone who knows this system better can back me up or correct me.

Well as it turns out it was the sensor on the top outlet for the radiator hose. There is a little 2 pin brass sensor. I found that if you unhook it the fan's will run full blast when the motor is running. I bought a new sensor 14:95 from autozone and replaced it. Works fine. I had the radiator rodded the guy said it was about 90% blocked. Car runs cool as a cucumber now. lol. Still getting a funny smell under the hood. Dunno if it's exhaust or if it's running too rich from the MAF. I'm thinking and dreading that i'm going to have to eleminate my smog pump, erg, and replace the MAF which i got a 70mm comming already. Any idea what size belt i need to bypas the smogpump?

SO, in changing the MAF. No more CEL. the Idle leveled out but the car still won't rev or get up and go past 2500 rpm's. It runs much better though at an idle. I can hear the fuel pump in a high pitch hum when standing at the back of the car. Could it be that? Whats the likely hood?[/align]
