Diablo Sport custom chip
I had a question a while back about my 95 GT not being as powerfiul as my 88 was. There werethings said about the ecm not being forgiving and many professionals have told me the same. One person mentioned that they had the same thing going on with their 95and they putin aDiablo Sport custom chip and gave them 40 more horsepower just by plugging it in and another 10 hp after tuning. My question is will this really work after I have read a forum about howchips area waste of money and they don't do nothing more than if you advanced your timing?
Thanks

RE: Diablo Sport custom chip
There are 2 different 'styles' of J3 chips.
1. The over-the-counter style that contains a generic tune, which can be used on a couple of different cars.
2. The CUSTOM chip is installed in the vehicles ecu, then a custom tune is created for that vehicle, and only that vehicle.
Option 1 is pretty much useless. These chips advance the timing curve, and some might do some stuff with the fuel... maybe.
Option 2 is where you can gain not only power, but also drivability
The SCT chip will be option 2...

RE: Diablo Sport custom chip
I believe I am the one your talking about. I put the chip in after it was burnt, and it gave me 40 HP then they dyno tuned it to get a better fuel mixture and it gave me another 10 RWHP. For the chip to do a whol lot you need to have your car heavily modified. I have pretty much every bolt on except a supercharger. And yes drivability is way better.
I also have to run 94 octane gasoline. Small price to pay.
