What fuel pump? and track times.

What fuel pump? and track times.
I was wondering what fuel pump i should get, currently i am running a stock fule pump and i think that it is killing my high end power.
Here are my specs, let me know what you guys think a good pump would be.
Ford 302, 9.2:1 compression. comp cams extreme energy camshaft( Intake: 268 duration 509 lift, Exhaust: 280 duration 512 lift), weiand xelerator intake, currently a 670cfm holley street avenger carb but im getting a 650 double pumper froma friend, roller rockers, headers, 3.55 gears in the back.
Should i just get a racing pump and use a pressure regualtor? i plan on building a 408 stroker evetually and wanna be able to use this pump and not have to spend money on another one later down the road.
Time slip:
R/T .238
60' 2.305
330 6.228
1/8 9.430
mph 76.84
1000ft 12.202
1/4 14.592
mph 93.84
I was running on street tires and just spun off the line. The car would also just nose over at about the 1000ft mark.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks
Matt

RE: What fuel pump? and track times.
sorry about the double post. im running a mechanical pump with about 5-6psi. the heads are ported cast iron heads with oversized valves. 1.94 intake and 1.60 exhaust

well head choice should be okay for flow but you really need a dual plane intake and an rpm or rpm air gap or comparable would be my suggestion......my 66 has c90e heads with 1.94/1.50 valves a crane fireball cam .500/.500 an rpm air gap and a t-5 tranny, 3.50 gears, full length hooker super comp headers and roller rockers and duraspark ignition and a 650 double pumper and on street tires it has run a 13.6 @ 103 mph

ok thanks for the advice. i actually just put that intake on about two weeks ago cause i was running a regular performer. i also think i have some problems with my carb. i am running a 670 double pumper(i jetted it down two sizes) and going down the track i felt the secondaries open for a brief second then close back up. Also its shuttering off the line a bit, and today i drove it around and everytime it hits 1500rpm is hesitates. pulled the plugs and they seemed alittle lean too.

I'd really put a smaller carb on and if it hesitates off cruise like when you initially give it gas.. the issue is in the accelerator pump circuit..= either to much delievery, or not enough or to little discharge rate= corrected by different accel pump cams and or squirter size

one of my buddys took the car for a spin at the track last night and he also said it sounded like the accelerator pump was bad or needed to be changed with a different one.

It's not fuel. I'm running a stock fuel pump on mine as well. It's just a mistuned and mismatched combo. That intake and carb setup are killing you. The regular Performer with like a 500-550cfm carb is all you need on that setup.
