well first you have to decide what are your goals = hp and et?? as for the head switch..honestly the cost vs the benefit/gain IMO does not warrant the change....and as for changing your whole combo... you first must have a goal and from there that'll dictate your necessities

IMO, there would be minimal power gain, making it not worth the expense.

The GT-40 X303's over the years of bench Flow testing actually have been shown to Flow about the same or bit better than AFR165's. The avg flow rates over the entire range of valve lift that is. You would see little to no gain switching to the 165's unless you had some port work done to them. If you want better performance out of the X303's as they are, toss out that FRPP Alphabet Cam and get something better. I highly reccomend the Anderson Ford Motorsports(AFM) N-41 Cam, it is the most optimal and designed specifically for the X303's and GT40(Cobra) intakes.

the anderson cams are almost as outdated as the alphabet cams are......the best bet for max combo potential would be have a custom cam designed

wow, you don't need a custom cam for that just use the x heads you got, maybe an rpm II intake a tfs stage 1 cam or comp xe series dual pattern cam, roller rockers, full exhaust, gears 3.73's, drag radials, good clutch and a cold air intake set up and you'll be at close to 275 rwhp and you should be able to pull a high 12 if you can drive..but if you want a custom set up check out camshaft innovations and you ned to pay for the cam doctor= jay allen = so he'll talk to you...estimate is on the website already= 300-330 for custom cam , Flowtech induction IS ANOTHER PLACE FOR CUSTOM CAMS TOO.

True that!.
But for an OTS(off the shelf) Cam the N-41 is pretty much the best your gunna get with the non-ported GT40X's and a Cobra intake combo as far as a "streetability vs perfomance" balance goes. Or at least in my experiance anyway. I also like the TFS Stage 1 for an OTS Cam for that combo but you loose a bit of bottom end torque with it.

Custom grind... hell ya, Jay or Rick are both wizards and you can't go wrong with either of them.
