any way to cut down an axle shaft?

hi is there any way that i can cut down an axle 4' without it being unsafe?

if they are moser axles.... sure.

take it to a machine shop

any self respecting machine shop can do you right and cut you whatever length you need dont think the have to be moser we cut our for our pulling tractor and got the donors from a 3/4 ton ford and a 8 3/4 crysler newyorker we cut the housing and sent the axels off i know they put a thirty one spline on the ford but anyways you got the money they got the time.
