A dry AOD requires 13 quarts. That will vary a little due to trans coolers and manufacturing differances. But 13 quarts is what the haynes tech manual for it says.

ya i got that number from haynes but i don't think i pulled 13 quarts out of it, could it be possible that the torque converter didn't drain or something, my buddy told me 5 quarts but that doesn't seem like enough :S

The torque converter will not drain completly unless you pull the plug out of it. So no you won't have to add the full 13. You will have to put fluid in it and let it run, add more, let it run and eventually it will fill to what it needs to and you will get it to work. I thought my c4 was screwed bc I added fluid and it read full and still wouldn't move and then I decided to check it again a couple days later to find that the stick was dry so I just added and tried moving and added and tried moving. ( I wouldn't condone this bc it can burn up the bands in your tranny due to lack of fluid) If you have to put the rear on stands and put it in drive and let the wheels start rolling on their own. Just be patient.
