in my buddy's car he has 4.10's... he runs 9.6's going through the traps at 140+mph @ almost 8200rpms.... (yeah its a built motor obviously)....A c4's gr'ing is nice though...atleast in mine it is... 1st is kinda short-right out the hole- 2nd nice mid range- 3rd i'm wide open... and i'm about to go to 4.30's.... i run 1/8th mile though.....

nah you wont hit 8500 rpms.... the way he does it is a built motor... Dart Man O war aluminum block, AFR heads, 850 carb, lots n20.. and a solid roller cam... and other tweaks and tunes in there as well....

what kinda suspension, tires, and weight reduction do you have now?
Have you ever ran it in a 1/4?
If so what rpm were you at at the finish?

If when you change you have too much gear then go with a taller tire.

Faster mph--- take longer to rotate a taller tire---- its a just science....sYckmYnded, but if you're runnig a26x 10.5 no need tomini tub... a 28x10.5--- then you'll need a mini tub...

That is the only way to tell what gears you need time slip, rpm at traps, and tire size. If you really want to get technical with it putthe caron a dyno and find out where in the rpmpower falls off and try to make that your target RPM at the finish line.

sYckm- When you say fully built 306... what is the compression ratio????

In a 306, with a nice set of heads, and like 10:0:1 comp.... with a nice bump stick... some n20 will help a lot with getting you to the finish a little faster... of course any P'adder will...
just a thought.... but if you are going n/a... some gear, less weight, suspension, good tires, a nice tune, and good driving will do the trick.... you want to be the shft to come on or about to come one at the finish line.... What size stall converter do you have???
