i have a 1988 mustang lx convartable
after driving for about half hour when i remove the ignition key the fuel pump still pumping, i removed the negative battery and the noise dissapper???? pls help

sounds like you might have a bad connection, or a short in the wire some where.

just a thought it may be you ignition switch is severely worn and causing it to not shut off but i could be wrong

most likely your fuel pump re-lay..

about 30 minutes ago i reconnect the negative wires the fuel pump noise dissappear....i'm just gonna take it to the shop and diagnose the car, but then again, the previous owner removed the smog pump and a/c delete, can they still figure out the problem????

also when i was drivng the car i get a fuel cut off???

i kinda agree its my fuel pump relay doesn't switch off when ignition is off...where can i find my fuel pump relay?

i think the relay is under the driver's seat, but i might be wrong

i belive they put it under the seats starting in 90.....if im correct the pump relay should be under the mass airflow sensor near the purge canister..i remember my buddy went through a puddle in his 89 lx and got water in it somehow my dad fixed it and thats where it was..

its weird i went to miss with it again, i put the negative battery, and the fuel pump noise is gone...right when i put the key in ignition switch and put it on start and remove the key the fuel pumpits on again, i'm thinking it doesn't switch off, and the ecu it self reset it when i reput the battery wire in about 30 minutes and up....

the fuel pump relay its under the maf sensor
i bought a new fuel pump relay at the autozone the problem still the same, i'm thinking its the wiring from the ignition key it switch on but won't switch off
