Default muncie 4 in a 84 Mustang?

I'm looking at differnt transmissions and would a muncie 4 speed be better in a 84 mustang(police intercepter) than a t-5? My t-5 was blown and was thinking it was from the power of the car. this car will be a daily driver and a car that will blow by honda's accasionaly. and maybe extreme burnouts, the brake bais is like 95 front 5 in the rear. i got the car like this. any help would be appratiated..

Well, if your lookin to have fun, and not worry, a T-5 isn't the right trans. lol While not total garbage, they're just more on the week side. However i've heard a good old muncie 4spd is pretty badass, i'de love to have one in my car! You'll lose the 5th gear, but I think it's worth it. Then again, I think it's friggin awesome to say you have a 4 on the floor too. lol Does muncie make a 4 speed that fits the 5.0 stangs?

yeah but if i dont have $2000 to spend on a trans. i think i might just get a used t-5. with a 4 speed would i get good low end? just incase i want to take it to the track. the trans that was in it would go 80MPH in second gear.......

that's not a result of your trans gearing... that is a result of **** poor rear end gears.. most likely 2.73's[:'(]

get a t-5 from Astroperformance.com They sell rebuilt stuff that can hold like 600 to 700 hp for a reasonable price or they have rebuilt units that hold a little better then stock for like $600-700

If it was the stock 84 trans, it's alot weaker than the later ones. Not sure if it was 86 or later when they changed to the World Class T-5. Get one from a 90 or so stang and you should be fine.

no...you could put 273s in a 86 toyota corola and it would do 80 mph in 2nd gear, it is your gearing not the power...
