1.7's, stock cam?
Im thinking about doing 1.7 rr on my stock cam, instead of putting in an e303 and 1.6's. my question is would that be a better/easier idea than putting in the new cam and replacing springs? (Id be getting new springs with 1.7's anyways) and would that cause me to be smog illegal by any chance? (in cali)
the lope would sound different as well correct? sorry for the questions Im just not very educated when it comes to this subject.

ah ok I was wondering about that option as well. Im looking at a set of gt40p's with a trickflow spring kit already on it. would I be able to run the 1.72's on maybe stock heads with new springs with no problems until I get new heads? and would the gt40p's fit my stock engine? it says they are 1.9 intake and 1.6 exhaust. idk much about heads....

I would wait and just do heads and a cam at the same time. Putting 1.7s on your stock engine is going to be a waste of time and money for the gains you'll see, and the cam will probably sound the same since the duration doesn't change.

GT40P heads with an E cam and 1.6s should work just fine on a stock bottom end as long as it's not an 86. You should always check piston to valve clearance but if you don't feel like it you should have no problems.
