Default i need help fast

i'm in the middle of putting my pistons in and i can't remember which way the little notch goes that is on the top of the piston. towards the front or the back? i left my camera at home with all the pics that i took when taking it apart. any other pointers on putting the piston rings in besides using a lot of motor oil on the cylinder walls. and facing the rings in opposite directions? thanks in advance

first it seems as if you were talking about piston direction now it seems as if you are talking about rings?? the little dot on the rings does face upwards as for the piston the caps are numbered so put the right one in the correct bore and if the rods weren't removed from wrist pin..nevermind the radius part cause as long as the piston is in the correct bore and dot on piston is facing forward.. the radius end will be in the correct way

alright cool. yeah the rods and pistons were not replaced. the only thing that is bugging me now is my own conscience. i'm second guessing myself on the ring placement on the first two pistons i put in today. lol...... just to be safer than sorry i'm gonna pull them tommorrow.
