Whats the fix? Dont know much about manual transmissions. Can I just replace the synchro, or does it need a total rebuild? Is it a total take apart or is it something I can do on my own? If it is a take apart sort of thing, would it be wise to rebuild the trans at that time?

if it's apart you might as well rebuild the whole thing and if it's a sincro you need to inspect the teeth on the 2nd gear hub as those are the sincronizer teeth..if they are mushroomed flat and not sharp and pointy like a roof top the whole gear assembley needs to be replaces......most of the time the friction material on the blocker ring that mates with the sincro hub to stop gear from spinning and allow it to mesh into gear is worn out or bad..blocker rings come in the rebuild kit..disassemble and inspect then make a list of needed parts to order
