Default Bypass smog in CA

If i were to use a shorter belt and bypass my smog pump (still leaving everything hooked up: I live in CA) and get an off road mid-pipe would it affect the smog system and/or the "tune" of my car?

Basically so when it comes time to smog my car in 2 years, I can switch out my h pipe and use the stock length belt utilizing the pump again.

why go around the smog pump if youre just going to leave it? it really doesnt add jack for hp.

Go for it 100% no you will not mess anything up. Just be careful running with no cats! If you search for high flow cats vs none on google you will see dyno numbers of only @ 1-3 hp diference and you dont have to worrie about the FN CHP. I am about to move to the bay area and i am going to high flow cats I hate that my car smells so rich all the time from not having cats.

Well i cant move out of Sd and away from the surf.. I would probably shrivel up and die, its kinda like my life haha. besides my stang and cars in general of course. the reason i also wanna bypass it is because it just froze up on me and is holding my belt still while the crank spins!

Also i have a extra stock H pipe sitting around. I planned on grinding off the welds on the cat covers, removing them and tacking them on to the off road mid pipe i get. so if a cop did look under he wouldn't automatically impound my car but rather he might send me to the smog referee in which time i could just swap out belts and put my stock h pipe back in and be chillen, same goes for smog time to...

well here is the deal

i'm a detroit boy... but spent 5 years in fresno, and fresno was one of the first to do the dyno smog

chnaces are... they will never look for cats. most smog shops are very uninformed. they will look for timing and smog pump, and then let the sniffer go to work

what was said about the hi-flow catted h-pipe is correct.....they flow well. just get a new pump, do it right.

but yeah, you'd get by no probs... my old car passed a sniffer w/ no pump, no cats, and long tubes

the viz... totally different sport
