hi i recently filled my a/c with 134a coolant to the proper level and my compressor keeps kicking off and on. if it stays on it will get cold but sometimes it wont come on at all. it didnt have any other coolant in it when i put this in but it still wont work right. any ideas? thank you.

how much freon did you put in??? maybe not enough and r-12 system converted to 134a should have 80 percent of the original charge installed to operate correctly...if a/c compressor clutch cycles frequently=to often charge may be low if it plain won't come on sometimes and othertimes it will....it could have a bad low or high pressure switch or a restriction in the system which could draw system prematurely into a vaccum like a restricted orifice tube and shut compressor off because the low pressure switch sees low pressure.due to restriction...you really need a set of gauges hooked to the car to see what the pressures are doing to perform an accurate diagnosis or at least start one

i have a guage that came with the coolant figure it is just a cheep on e but it says its too full when the compressor is off and not full enough when the compressor is on

you need the correct gauges for measuring actual line pressure on high and low side ..my guess is that only tells you acurracy somewhat when the compressor is on...how many ounces is the can you added??? also what was system capacity when it was an r-12 system??
