i have a 91 mustang gt, the mods are E-303 cam,70mmtb,and mass air,cobra intake,bbk headers,bbk off road hpipe,bbk cai,flowmasters,msd cap,motorsport wires,nitrous kit,
and the problem im having is my car seems to be running real rich,smokes on start up sometimes and the fumes inside the car smell like raw gas,also a friend was behind me the other day when i was getting on the car and he said it looked like a diesal, so i need some info on what i should check thanks for any help you can give me, i havnt really ever messed with fuel injection

could be valve seals

the problem with it being valve seals is that it isnt smoking blue like oil, it is real black and rich and has a raw fuel smell to it? so i have kind of ruled out valve seals because it isnt using any oil,any other ideas

first ..I'd run a koeo/koer test and check for codes .if that yields no results...check fuel pressure and the regulator and make sure the diaphram isn't ruptured by pulling vaccum line to it and seeing if fuel dribbles out. also if the car is mass air equipped try cleaning maf sensor

Part of the gas smell could be from the o/r hpipe, since you don't have any cats to burn leftover fuel in the exhaust.

I too would check for codes and check the fuel pressure regulator.

Even without cats if it's tuned right there shouldn't be much gas smell, if any. I'm running a carburetor and no cats(obviously) and only notice a gas smell if my face is by the exhaust when the choke is on. Sitting at idle without the choke you can smell some emissions, but it's not like raw fuel.

I have similiar upgrades and only a slight fuel smell. Id say cause of the smoke its your FPR or the vacuum line hooked up to it. rent a guage from AZ and make sure it has about 39psi with the vacuum off and about 35 with it on.

could have a hole in ur gas tank too, that would cause the raw gas smell in ur ride.
