well superchargers don't come into boost until heavy acceleration so just crusing around there might be a little drop, now if you have your foot on the floor the whole time then ya your mileage will drop alot but if you keep it out of boost most of the time then your mileage will be fine.

There's always drag on the engine with superchargers, why supercharge it instead of turbocharging it? you can safely get more HP out of a turbo'd 5.0 than you can out of a supercharged one(superchargers eat about 30% of the power they help to produce).

go turbo! there is no loss due to the engine haveing to turn the s/c. the exhaust turns the turbo. so if you stay out of boost you should get basically the same as a stockish 5.0

i just put on a v1 sc from vortech

city it get on average 13.mpgs---- its very hard to stay out of boost. the city miles are very hard miles

on the highway i get 19mpgs-----again, thats not trying to conserve gas. i would probably get 15 city and 22 or 23 highway if i was trying harder.

Like mentioned if you stay out of boost your mileage shouldn't be bad at all. Superchargers don't put enough drag on engines to cause a noteable decrease in fuel economy.

depends how often you get on it. Under normal driving conditions I get about 21mpg, but I usually like to drive fast if you know what I mean

Ok, thanks guys, so a turbo would be better .....i need to look around for one , but i still like the sound of a supercharged better. a dumb question now,
can a thinderbird supercharger be put on a 5.0?? or it ll be a PITA?
thats the cheapest way to go i think....Thanks again guys

uh the thunderbird supercharger would be a pain in the *** and not nearly adequate enough for a v-8 as the tbird super is on top of a v-6
