im going to be building a 302 that will be turbod in the future. what kind of heads are good and not expensive. im thinking of going with the holley systemax intake mainfold or the bbk ssi r racing intake mainfold? can be expensive heads tough

RE: 302 heads
There is no such thing as a cheap route to turbo an n/a engine. You will need new injectors, a cam designed for forced induction, new manifolds, probably new pistons, unless you have the 5.0 from the mid 80's? (i forget the years but a few years of the 5.0 had forged pistons stock).A turbo will need a much more powerful fuel pump as well as injectors. Then let us not forget to either go standalone for the EEC(ECU, ford calls it an EEC), or getting a piggyback/retune. and if you get the stock eec retuned, you will become married to a tuner. any mod throws the current tune to crap. it may be 'cheaper' than a standalone/piggy back, but it also is the most limiting. You will also need a new exhaust system. then you need to tap the block for oil returns from the turbos.(I am assuming you will be running 'twins', one turbo per bank.)
Also, heads are a huge factor hear, you need stainless one piece valves for exhaust at a minimum(the heat from the turbo's exhaust will burn the valves up, if they are not valves built to handle the heat). i would recommend all around thou, as they are much more reliable. And again on the heads, you will need a high flowing top end. An engine is a lung, effectively, and when you restrict the passageway, it cannot breathe. The heads must allow the flow required by the cylinders. Also, you will need to do some research and see how much boost a stock block will handle. If you want high boost, you will need to look into an aftermarket block.
Next, have you considered a new trans, or beefing up your t5? The stock t5 will not handle a turbo'ed 302. There are a lot of things you need to address when you want to turbo the engine. Not trying to discourage you, just make you aware. It's not a simple 'bolt on' process. Well, it can be, but then pending on piston material, valves, fuel system, you are probably going to run lean, burn a piston up, run lean, blow the engine up, run lean, generate lots of heat, burn valves up. It's just something that needs to be done right the first time.
I am sure there are plenty of guys here who can tell you all the ins and outs of turboing a 302.

RE: 302 heads
all of the turbo stuff will be handled by my friend. i need to know what heads can run safely with tt setup with low boost. what bout the gt40s they ok or just go with heads from trickflow.

RE: 302 heads
check the flow charts on them. i would honestly run like afr 185's, maybe bigger than that, pending on other mods you may or may not do down the line. I always thought that the gt-40's were just pos 302 n/a heads. not good for much. for not that much more you can get much better heads. I'd definitely run something better than gt40's for a turbo application. Just me thou.
