when i was driving my 89gt today i noticed when i would let the car de-accel i hear a popping noise in the exhaust...my dad said he heard an exhaust leak yesterday...could it be from that?? i dont hear any popping when im accelerating

well to be honest i havent driven the car in 2 nights and i think from not hearing it maybe got me to hear it...my dad said he hears an exhaust leak...when i pulled up to my buddys house last week he said he thinks i have a leak.......im getting an x pipe put in this week so if its from an exhaust leak then it sould be fixed lol..... but i know popping can be from wrong timing...and bad valve adjusment also

I had the same problem about a month ago and i used a higher octane gas and no problem since. I put in 87 octane instead of 91 and thats when it started to pop or ping. I didnt have any exhaust leaks so that was ruled out.

i run 93 octane all the time

i had the same problem on my car turns out my header was loose as h*ll as soon as i tightened it all down it fixed the problem

my dad mentioned to me to check the header bolts.....i drove the car today and the weathers nice But hot..car drove mint no pop noises...its funny because it seems like whenever it rains out or after it does the car runs like crap...could that be like a electrical problem..like moisture in the igniton system?? the cap rotor plugs and wire are new...but my dad said it could be a bad tfi module

just have someone lay down on the ground and listen, while the other revs the car while its parked..... its not that hard to tell if its an exhaust leak.. you'll hear it.

no there is an exhaust leak....im not worrying because thursday the cars getting a dr.gas x pipe..
