Default idle issues

I just installed a 65mm t body on my 93 GT. Does anybody remember how to set the idle? At first it idled at 1500 rpm's and I disconnected the IAC connector. It ran at about 900 to 1000 rpm's for about a week, butnow when I go to start it it will run at 1500,1000 or it will just surge from like 500 to 1500 whatever it feels like doing on that particular day. Thanks appreciate any help.
