SO, i currently have a Cobra intake manifold, both upper and lower that im extrude honing and gasket matching, along with a BBK 70mm TB, but im wondering if it will increase power more if i used a GT-40P manifold from an explorer? Anyone know?

Also, based on the mods in my sig, what kinda power increase am i looking at with the Cobra manifold? Thanks! (i know its impossible to tell, im just looking for a ballpark #)

hmm are you looking at a True cobra intake or the ford racing one, also is it the explorerer intake with that bend in it? if it has the bend then i say use the cobra intake. but if it's the tubular one, then use the explorerer oneas far as power gains, my estimate would be maybe 30 hp bolt on but ported maybe a little more

There's really not much difference between the GT-40 Tubular, Cobra, and Explorer intakes. They are all the same basic design aside from the Cobra/Explorer intakes being cast for mass production.

the cobra and the gt40 flow almost identicaly, i saw a flow chart and the cobra outflowed the gt40 but by very very very little, if you search around you can probably find it. my gusse is with the intake and tb swap, you are probably looking at 15 hp with stock heads, upgrade those and then i can see 30.

like said before.... considering they are the same manifold.... just stick with whatcha got!

the gt40 intake wont make enough difference to matter, i agree with everyone else, stick with the cobra intake

yes why change between those intakes.stay with the one u haved that is already ported

Not to thread jack but out of FRPP Cobra in6take, Edelbrock, TrickFlow and BBk which intake manifold is best. My 88 is pretty much justthe normalbolt ons, air intake, BBK equal shorties, o/r h-pipe and cat back system.

88lxstang......i will say like others will u need to swap h/c at least to notice any gain atleast some gt40 heads

but i cant really say which one cause i dont know how u drive the car and...............[8D]

gains with a new intake no matter how much you port it but still have stock heads = 0

i did it on a '90 gt and gained absolutely nothing , the stocker will support over 300 rwhp, i know that from experience

real gt40 is the best intake to get imo. but thats cuz i'm old skool.
