Clutch replacement DIY please

RE: Clutch replacement DIY please
You asked "I see you say you dont recomend doing the main seal while in there if its not leaking. I was under the impression that the seal generally fails btwn 40-50k. My car has just under 49k. Is that failure time true? If so I do believe I will replace that while doing the clutch".
This is debateable.
Some say " if it's not leaking don't mess with it, a new one may start a leak where there wasn't one before".
Some say " replace it no matter whatwhile in the trans, it's worth the trouble of not having to drop the trans just for a leaky seal when it does decide to go bad". But this may make it leak as stated above.
I had both happen. I replaced a non leaky one only to have it drip, and I have replaced good ones with no problems.
