Default MSD ignition question

I was just wondering if you had to have the rpm module connected in the MSD box to start the car. I have the box all hooked up, i dont have the rpm modules, i turned the car over and it just cranks. Also, do you have to hook up a tach to it??

if you are using a factory tach ..you'll need the tach adapter..if using an aftermarket you can use the lead that plugs into the box

ok, let me ask you this then. There are 5 wires that come out of it that are connected to the car. I am running an msd distributor. The box is hooked directly to the distributor. It has a thick red going to the battery positive. A thick black to the ground. A thin black going to the coil (-). A thin red going to the coil (+). And finally, a red going to the ignition. Correct?? If those are all right, then i'm 180 out on my timing

yup that should be it and I ran out and pulled my pill and it still started so I'm 100 percent positive on that...anyway check timing and make sure your on tdc on number 1 ..pull plug and bump motor over and when you feel compression come out then remove cap and rotor should be relatively close to pointing at number 1 on cap..if not restab dizzy
