im going to have to change my rack and pinion because the one in my car is leaking badly but what i wanted to know is that is it hard to change that part
well it would prolly take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours to change it but the dealer books prolly say it'll take more like 4 or so, so times that by 80 for every hour. then ofcourse an alignment which is going to be around 50-80. i'd just call a few shops and get a quote.
i took it instead to get changed they charged me $245 $140 for labor and $102 for the rack and pinion he said my old one was pretty messed up already oh well leak is fixed
it seems a lot of peoples rack is going lately. i'm sure mine will be soon too. i hate front end suspension work. i do it anyway though. struts, and springs don't bother me, but ball joints, and tie rods, pitman/idler arms, and center links and steering racks. when you start getting into all that i hate to do that. i have a lot of experience replacing broken ball joints, and tie rods on my vehicles.
