Default rack & pinion

im going to have to change my rack and pinion because the one in my car is leaking badly but what i wanted to know is that is it hard to change that part

make sure you buy new outer tie rods as well, it also wouldn't hurt to change the rack bushings to urethane. Check out late model restos kit

well it would prolly take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours to change it but the dealer books prolly say it'll take more like 4 or so, so times that by 80 for every hour. then ofcourse an alignment which is going to be around 50-80. i'd just call a few shops and get a quote.

i took it instead to get changed they charged me $245 $140 for labor and $102 for the rack and pinion he said my old one was pretty messed up already oh well leak is fixed

it seems a lot of peoples rack is going lately. i'm sure mine will be soon too. i hate front end suspension work. i do it anyway though. struts, and springs don't bother me, but ball joints, and tie rods, pitman/idler arms, and center links and steering racks. when you start getting into all that i hate to do that. i have a lot of experience replacing broken ball joints, and tie rods on my vehicles.
