ok do i need 351 swap long tubes if i dont need them to meet up with the xpipe? im going to custom make an exhaust anyway( prob dump right before the rear tires) will a 302 long tube clear the bottom of the car with a 351's higher deck height?

I have a 347 in my 88 Notchback with MAC 1 3/4" long tubes with 2 1/2" collectors made for factory type connection. I have issues with these touching the firewall right at the tunnel already. I would say you will have some fitment issues if you choose to use 302 headers on a 351 engine in your fox body. I can't say that for sure because I have never done that before.

you will have to use the swap headers for sure. i got the bbk ceramic coated ones and they fit great. on a side note, plan on ditching the stock steering shaft and buying one from maximum motorsports. unless you want to put a dent in your headers where the rag joint is.
