I have no idea whats going on I don't have a whole lot of power from a dead stop really. And when I am going along say at 2000rpms and floor it, it doesn't respond that quick like theres no acceleration then it hits like 2800rpms and snaps out of it you can even watch the tach pick up. Also I have had a pop on decel and when I push the clutch in to shift, the car is also eating gas.(160miles to the tank)

What engine setup? EFI or carb? Need more info.

start with the basics if it's efi run a koer test

Shoot it and send it to the glue factory. Go buy a ZR1

check the carb. ive had a similar problem with a chevelle. is there a delay ordoes it stallwhile you put on the gas initially?

if it sounds like popping on decel that sounds like backfire in your exhaust..

it is stock efi. ima gonna run koer when the weather clears. I am half thinking timing I have never checked it before, but I have a light laying around, could anyone tell me how?

before you start look at your balancer it should look like -10 ! ! ! ! 0 ! ! ! ! 10 ! ! ! ! ! 20
put white out on the the mark you want 12-14* is usually good.

put the spark pick up dealy bobber on the #1 spark plug wire(make sure it isnt touching other wires, put the black clip on a ground and the positive (red clip) on the battery.

loosen the distributer hold down but just barely so it holds the dizzy in place and doesnt swing freely but you can still move it.

now while the car is running pull the spout connector

shoot the light at your balancer and try to get the pointer to point at the whiteout mark you made earlier.

once you've down that tighten the dizzy hold down and go drive her around and make sure she doesnt knock or have detonation

A couple other questions what does the spout connector look like and my timing light has 3 alligator type connections and the clip for the spark plug wire. There are 2 black wired alligator clips and a red wired one. What do you think I should do with the small black wired one?

your spout connector will look kind like this. the wires that plug into the dizzy, connected to that wire harness is the spout connector, just pull the end off(that lighter grey piece)


you should only have 1 black aligator clip, 1 red aligator clip and 1 spark plug monitor thing.
