Default 95 gt mods?

well i want to start modding my 95 gt im low on cash and im looking for simple somewhat cheap bolt ons that are worth the cash. right now it has the stock h-pipe with hollowed cats, summit mufflers and a k&n. i just bought a new fuel filter and a hypertech 160 degree thermostat.
im planning on getting a c&l 76mm cold air and maybe a summit 2.5 inch catback.

im trying to find used parts on ebay for the most part so fairly cheap for example i was going to pay 150 for the cai newand about 250 on the catback new.i only have 160 to my name right now unless i take money out of the bank so untill i can work and actually make some money i have to go cheap. id really like 4:10's and a shiftkit buti dont have the cash.
please expain about the 160 degree thermostat. its supposed to make it run cooler, prevent detonation and give it a little more power.[sm=smiley5.gif]

the engine is designed to run at a certian temp. below that you'll get worse gas mileage, bad detonation etc etc. the 180 is the way to go

well im going to install it and if it runs like **** im sending it back to hypertech and complaining.
according to them "use of lower temp thermostats does tend to lower an engines overall temp, achieving cooler air/fuel charge temp's and leading to increased power"

I ran a 160 degree thermostat last year and didn't have any problems. I put back the 180 thermostat when the theromstat housing broke and the car seemed to run a little smoother. I would reccommend buying a shift kit. You can get them for cheap and they will help your tranny last a lot longer. A transmission cooler would also be benneficial, under 50$. If you are looking for a cold air kit just go to ebay and get a generic one. That's what I did and didn't have any problems.

ok if you pay 150 on a CAI im going to come steal your car so you'll stop wasting your money. do not buy a CAI, just get a K&N drop in filter, and remove the air silencer, it works exactly the same just doesnt "look as kool" as a CAI.

if anything buy an EBAY one for 25 bucks.

160 thermostat leave the car in warm up mode which the computer feeds the engine more gas, and leaving it at 160 will not let the car out of warm up mode and you'll get crappy gas milage and crappy power. 180 is where you wanna be, most power for the fuel. and its only a 5 dollar part, please purchase the correct one and dont waste your time with the 160.

gears are really the way to go and best bang for the buck, but yes they are expensive. but speed cost money, how fast do you wanna go?

how much are you limited to funds wise? you should be able to get gears done for about 400-600dollars installed. and you wont regret it.

lol,the only reasoni was going to pay 150 is cause its a c&l 76mm kit and it comes with the maf as well. but its probably not much better than a normal cai. right now im very limited fund wise plus the car could use new rotors and a new top so gears will probably have to wait till the end of summer at the earliest. im notlooking to make it real fast right now, just togive it a little more than what it has for not much money.

take care of your maintanence issues first of all and get them outof the way, that way you dont strap yourself for cash when you have these new mod, and no money to fix your worn out and broke car. always do the worn out things first and then use the left over money to mod away.

+1

it really blows when you drop cash on mods and you still have a car that breaks down. its happened to me a couple of times and now maintenance always comes first.
