Sounds like you need a new one or a good used one. Make sure all the bolts are tight first

quick thing to check is the rag joint that goes on the rack. I had mine tear while i was driving it talk aboot a bad feeling! and since the stuff they use is like 20 years old, it would be wise to replace!

if the loosness is inside on the column then there are 3-4 torx head or e head can't remember which it is but with 1/4 rachet and extention after removing steering wheel and covers I was able to access the bolts on my 85 tilt column and tighten them back up

i noticed the plastic column covers look like they had been off before and maybe it had loosened up b4....to take the steering wheel off , do i just pull the center bolt off or do you need some kid of puller?
