Do you have the ability to put a pressure tester on your rad? That will push the coolant into the block if its cracked. Be warned ,302 blocks are known for spliting at the front main under your timing cover. More so with the bottle or lots of Boost

thank you for the diagram and advice I really do appreciate it.
The DSS blocks arent as stong as advertised? Can you suggest a short block assmbly Co. Does anyone know how much it would cost for the a boss block? I want to keep the Trick Flow HCI combo I just installed and do the Dart or boss short block accept it without modification? Sorry for all the questions but if I have to do the upgrade I only one to have to do this one last time ( for a long time). Since I just got this thing together a month ago.. only got a few real rides with it.. a couple of races all kicked butt..
I wont be doing the install myself. So I am thinking if I have the engine torn down is it worth it to just do a gasket replacement if that is the case? or do the block and swap out parts?

I cant afford a Dart/Boss block. 5,000 is Way out of my reach right now. I just spent 10 already into parts and labor on the car in last few months. only got two or three good days of driving out of the car .. Does anyone company make a stronger than stock short block but not as costly as a good Dart/Boss shortblock? Lets put it this way. I was thinking 3k tops... I know that Dart/Boss are really the way to go But there has to be an mid range block somewhere no? between thin wall and bulletproof, or am I just kidding myself..?

unless you ARE making 500 or more or intend to make such hp levels no need for a dart or boss block..stock will be fine and adequate

well I actually dont know what I AM making at this time HP wise.. but I am making an guess and think i might be around 400 at the crank now... I could be over estimating but Somewhere in that neighborhood. Do you think I am making much less? If I up the boost as I plan and also port the heads while they are off . I just dont want to make a big investment in something that cant hold up or will only last a few months or even a season or two. what do you do?
I appreciate you and the rest for responding to my questions.

With that setup I wouldn't be surprised if you made 450 to the tire. It is very similar to my setup. How are you tuning it? If it isn't tuned, definately consider that for the future. It's the only safe way to play.

adderM2k 4-5 G is for the shortblock complete.. Yeah the block on its own will be anywhere from 1500 to 1900 From what I have seen. If you know a cheaper reliable place to get a short block much cheaper I will be all over it
Onefasteclips, I kinda felt that I was in that ball park power wise which is what makes me soo nervous about putting money into a production block with a 331 stroker or even a 306.
