Default Full Throttle

Hello all,

Has anyone experience their call all of a sudden going full throttle past redline and holding unexpectedly? The first time it happened I turned the ignition off, didn't start. I had it towed to a shop, they said it was the throttle position sensor. Now it does it every now and then, but at least it starts after some time sitting. The mechanic can't figure it out because he hasn't experienced it yet. The needle remains past 7K rpms, but resets while driving.

Did you replace the TPS? What year? What are your mods?

check the computer for codes and have the ignition control module checked at autozone(remove from outside the distributor).

The needle goes past 7k and the motor revs all the way and holds!

I'd inspect throttle linkage then for binding..the prob you have is a mechanical issue it seems not an electrical one.....make sure the throttle blades are not hanging up on carbon and if you have cruise control make sure the portion that holds throttle position is not prematurely actuating
