Default help needed, getting my hands

sup yall,

well, i'm looking into buying a 78 ford ltd with the 351 winsor motor in it that has only 56,xxx original miles on it. I'm taking it off my friends hands for around $600 because he is moving to Atlanta and cant keep it. The motor is mechanically sound, I mean this thing purs like a kitten. I like the ltd cause it's a ghetto sled and has leather and power windows and it's a 2 door but i want to put it into something smaller to exploit the power that the motor can make.

Now, what are my chassis options for this motor? I want something cheap, light and something that would bea straight forward swap. It would be nice to find an 80's mustang with no motor or something that would be cost efficative like so.

Also, what are places where i can learn more about the specs on this motor... I have been into turbo dsms for a long time so i could use any info on the 5.8L motor. Most importantly, what is everyons opinion on this motor.

Thanks for everyones input..

78 ltd eh?

351 is a good motor. There are very few motors that are great from the factory, and the 351 is no exception.
Let's see, 78? That's carb'd right? You'll want heads, intake manifold, and a ~600 cfm Holley carb to really wake it up.

As far as putting it into something, I'm partial to old Falcon Rancheros from the '60s.

Tomorrow I can get you the stock HP for the engine, but I don't have handy access to much more info than that.

Hp stock is probably around 160 - 170 or so, the late 70's engines are the weakest performers from the factory, mostly due to the crappy stock cam and heads. The motor is a direct bolt in on any fox chassis car (mustang, capri, tbird, more too just cant think of em all) that came with a 5.0 (you can even use the stock manifolds and motor mounts), just need a different oil pan.

With a mild cam, port the heads (just remove smog humps in exhaust side), and intake you can easily get 375+ hp from it.
