i am looking to get gt 40 heads and and intake the the gt 40s p better than the gt40s

GT40P's are just explorer heads i think
GT40X's are better than the p's
GT40Z's are better than X's

GT-40Ps outflow 40s a nice bit, however you do need special headers I believe, although I'm not 100% sure on this. The aluminum GT-40X303s outflow the Ps, but only marginally so.

That's how I did it, I also customized (cut) a sparkplug socket for the #7 plug.

there is a guy buy were i live selling the heads upper and lower for550 should i get that or can i find them cheaper

Depends on the condition. I paid $300 for my GT40Ps, and $150 for an Explorer upper and lower intake. $550 might be a little on the high side?. Several sets on ebay, also look here and in the Corral Classifieds
