Found the problem
So, I found the problem to my rod bearing failure. Several other rod bearings were on the way out and the #1 main showed evidence of being too hot. It appears that someone put dirt in my oil, I found a bit of sediment in the oil and there was a small pebble stuck in the oil pump bypassing, jamming it open. Nice hot climate around here, drive home up a big hill going from sea level into the mountains, the bypass stuck open heating the crap out of the oil as it was getting recycled through the pump until it finally cavitated. So now I get to machine the crankshaft and replace all the bearings. At least. The cam bearings prolly got beat up too, I'll find out when I pull the cam and check the journals and bearings for wear. Haven't checked the rod that lost the bearing, so it may not still be round.

RE: Found the problem
check if you have a air filter and if its sealed as well.
Thats pretty dam low if someone did that.
Your looking at a total overhaul with new lifters, unless you open them up and clean them as well.

RE: Found the problem
lol, prolly not. If all my rods were jacked then I'd prolly get a stroker kit. I don't feel like junking good rods and a set of Mahle pistons just to get a stroker kit though. Stay 302 and maybe put a turbo on it later.
