Transplant v8 into 4cyl, sorry search is broken :(
Hey guys, i had a wholeee bunch of threads bookmarked about swapping a 5.0 into a 4cyl, but i reformated my computer and forgot to save them, and the search is broken Sorry to start a repetitive topic
anyways, iv been given the go-ahead to transplant a v8 into my car since im not bringing it to college next year
now, i dont have the means to do this myself. dont have the tools or the space or the time. Would a place like firestone swap everything if i gave it all to them? I can get labor for free at a firestone.
also, 302 or 351? Whats the cheapest/simplest? With the 351 wont i need a cowl hood without custom fabrication? What cars should i look for a 302 or 351 out of a junkyard for?
What else would i need? I know i need the following:
Engine
Wiring harness out of a 93 stang
tranny (would like to swap to manual), its auto now
fuel lines to switch from passenger side to driver side
brakes? i have 96gt spindles up front
i can keep the 7.5 in for now i guess to keep costs down
springs? can i keep the 4cyl springs up front?
bascialy anything and everything you can add to the list to make this as smooth as possible would be great, also maybe an estimate on how much this is going to cost in parts?
you guys are great sorry about this repetitive thread, any help is appreciated

by the time youre done buying all the stuff and paying someone to install it (highly doubt that firestone would do it, much less convert it to stick) you'd be able to afford a stock v8. i say just save yourself the hassel and go to autotrader

too much work into this car to do that, sorry man. conversions can be done super cheap if you look hard enough
also, foxes around here, notches at least, are super rare and quiet expensive to find one in decent shape

DONT DO IT AT FIRESTONE!!!
unless u TRUST the guys doing it personally
that aside... after you have wiped your face :P...
engine, wiring harness, ECU (make sure to get the computer from the same car u get the wiring from, like MAF wires, MAF computer, manual, manual...) tranny/bellhousing, clutch pedal assembly with cable. you dont NEED the brakes or 8.8 rear but then you dont want to go all out racing until you do swap that out. you will need to lose your e-fan because its too fat to fit with a v8 in there you will use the v8 clutch fan... hmm not sure what else off the top of my head
