Default Bouncing speedometer

Ugh... Over the winter month my speedometer must have decided to crap the bed... My needle bounces wildly and reads about double the speed it should. I can also hear it squeeking while under way.

Now then... I greased the stock cable many times, with many different weights of grease and got the same results. So... I replaced the cable and inspected the gear. Gear looks fine.

So... What's left? Is my cluster screwed? Who can repair them or sell me a new one?

Where? Stealership or someplace else? I'm not even sure how the thing comes out of the cluster.

$180... Ouch... Have any clue if the 160 mph gauge listed for 87-89 will work? Same price, if I gotta pay it I may as well upgrade.

Yeah, I know... I was just hoping maybe somebody had a source to get the work done a bit cheaper.

This wouldn't be such a big deal if I wasn't coming directly off of a 6 month long $1500 adventure with the car. I'll be driving it "by tach" all weekend. Maybe by Monday I'll be back in love with the car and won't mind the cash so much.
