Default Oil Pressure

What shoud it be at? my stock oil guage is stayin near the L. I hooked up a mechanical oil guage to see what the pressure is at for the moment and it is reading 50psi. I also tried using the search engine on the site and it had come up with nothing, guessing it isn't workin atm.

yes they do, to a degree, they are slow to react from what i can see. if you have oil pressure, the guage reads somewhere in there, if you have none, then it reads nothing. you can hook a drill and prime the system and it reads oil pressure, it does work. its not going to give you an accurate amount that can be relied on, but that wont matter much, you either have pressure or you dont.

The car was cold, had to turn it off cause the mechnical guage i had hooked up started to leak. Picked up a new oil pressure sensor and the stock guage is workin fine now and in the area it should be in. I plan on geting a better mechanical guage and puting it in a cluster pod but dont have the money for it atm. I got myself a BBK ssi race intake, BBK shorties and x pipe and a set of gt40 heads to put on it. was hopin the oil sensor was bad before cause i dont have the cash to rebuild the bottom end yet and wanted to do all the bottom end stuff all at once. Now i am just waiting for my heads to get finished on being ported and polished. They should be back in my hands on monday I hope and will get to put on the new stuff or begin to this week.

get the autometer eletrical oil pressure, thats what i have. you dont have to worry about oil in the car. i got a mech. guage but i didnt like the idea afterwards.

btw, i was told that the ssi intake is garbage. just passing info along.
