RE: chattering coming from tranny ??? please help
Do you still have the stock clutch quadrant? If that is going bad, it could cause it to be hard to go in gears. It will cause your clutch to be out of adjustment. I have no faith in those plastic stock units. You can get a good new aluminum UPR one off ebay for $60. I would say the clutch and bearing is fine just out of adjustment.

As for the noise, that sounds to me like your throwout bearing.
As for the hard to get in gear, sounds like the clutch isn't adjusted right... When you're driving, & you release the clutch where does it grab? If it's pretty close to the floor I'd say it needs adjusted. On the stock cluch (assuming it's still in decent shap) You put your foot under the clutch petal & lift up, like you're trying to pull the petal toward you. That should adjust it for you. If not, the teeth may be gone.
If you're changing the throwout bearing, check the condition of the pilot bearing aswell.
Not necessarily. My friend ran his t5 for 3 months without transmission fluid because he had another one he was waiting to put in to see how long it would last. After the 3rd month it was still working fine so he just gave up & replaced it.[8D]

If it is low on fluid, its prolly to late. If you have never checked it, you should change it asap. 3 quatrs of trans fluid is not to expensive.

Pulling the petal up causes the teeth on the adjuster to adjust further back which is why you hear the clicking.
The teeth on it may be worn out if it's making it feel loose
