first the nitrous issue, now this. Put 28" tall slicks on my car and i was shifting 1-2 pretty hard... hit 2nd gear and something made a bang then followed by grinding. Sounded like my DS was dragging on the ground. The idle was shaky so i pulled it over... nothing obvious broke and i cant figure out what it is. Still goes intogear the clutch engages normal.I start the car and it make a grinding/knocking sound and requires a little throttle to start. Now where do i start?

Drain the oil to see if there is any metal in the pan? Pull off the dust cover where the release fork goes into the bell housing and see if anything looks out of whack. Slicks can break other things than traction. Hope you find something.

Does 2nd gear still move the car? I completely destroyed 3rd gear in my trans and it was like neutral, I thought I blew my driveshaft as well at the track since the car wouldn't accelerate when it was still in gear and was making all kinds of a racket. I had a loop so I just figured the driveshaft was banging around in the loop.

Im not sure but i believe it does. The noise is present whether its in 1st, or N with the clutch pushed in. I just rebuild this t5 and replaced 2nd gear along with the 1-2 slider.i dont want to start it if i dont have to, sounds pretty gnarly.[&o]

Thats what came to my mind too but with mine I just tore all the teeth off the gear. Mine made noise in neutral and every gear but it was just teeth getting kicked around. When I drained the fluid I stuck a magnet in the case and pulled out bits of teeth.

man you need to be a little more gentle with your ride.....but looks like you'd better pull the tranny...you could of blown the input retainer out too..if it were not a steel upgraded one

man a 28" tire on your ride ,was this on the street or track...? anyway it sound slike u should atleast drain the tranny fluid and see what it looks like and probably just pull the tranny out and inspect?....

But if i snapped the input shaft the noise should go away when i pressin the clutch, correct?That isnt the case. The car still moved fine when i was in first but i didnt want to run it making the noise and all.

it may of broken the counter gear..either way sounds like the tranny may need to come out[:@]...where is the noise centralized.??? in tranny area??
