I am a fan on the looks of the 1985 and 1986 mustangs and the thunderbirds look a little different as well that in 83-84.

My question is I am aware the thunderbird top of the line is the turbo coupe. I am wondering in the 5.0L option would have the same performance as the mustangs. I no that in 1986 the horsepower went up in 1985. I want to know if the 5.0L in these cars is exactly the same in hp and mechanically?

Pretty much, but I beleive the Tbirds have always been slightly heavier.

It's just to bad they didnt offer a 5.0/5spd in the t-bird. Not sure if the t-bird came with a roller cam or not.

The T-bird/Cougar engines were not the HO motors the Mustangs had. The 84-85 models were only rated at around 140 hp. Only the 88-92 Mark VII's had the HO.
