hay what up guys i am having some starting problems with my 86 gt mustang first i was not getting any spark so i bought a new disy new coil and new tfi module.and that fixed that but now i am not getting any fule so i bought a new pump and rely . but still nothing its like the pump does not want to kick on .but when i move the disy the pump kicks on some times but it does not kick on when i turn the key any help you guys could give me would be much aprecheated and sorry if you guys have problems trying to figure out what i am talking about i just don't now how to word things thanks again big mike

it sounds like the ignition is bad or something, maybe a bad wire from the ignition to the pump. obviously if moving the dizzy turns on the pump then the pump works.

thanks for the fast reply we cheked most of the wires at lest the ones we could see and thay look fine . when we spry starting flued in the tb it wants to start right up but idk i have been trying to get it running for the last 2 months it ran fine the one day it just did not start for some reson or anuther it turns over but thats it

i had some starting problems too, my90 gt wouldnt crank,it turns out i just needed a starter solenoid

When you turn the key you cant hear the fuel pump? turn off the radio and do not motor the starter and see? IF there is nothing and with the key on you go to the dizzy and move it then the fuel pump kicks on....you are likely looking at a bad TFI module/connection. check all of the wires on the module and wiggle them etc and see if one is pulled loose in the plug. if nothing hits the pump but moving it still makes the pump come on then it has to be the module. just because it was new doesnt always mean it is 100% good. thats where i would start

well for one stop throwing parts at it to try and make it start..that is not the proper way.....you need a wiring diagram of the fuel system and you need to have a test light handy so you can check for power back at the pump in the crank mode and briefly in the koeo mode for 2 sec...but there also is a reset switch for the fuel system/ inertia switch in the trunk behind the light panel..make sure it isn't tripped

thanks mjr46 i am working on he wiring diagramnow i just bought some repare books to help me i have a haynes book now but it is a big pos so i ordered a chilton thay have been good to me in the past so when it comes in i will start trying to find stuff out but thanks agen guys for your help
