My battery wont charge
Hey folks hope someone can help here... I have an 88 GT converted to mass air and out of the blue i developed a charging issue...
I have tried 4 alternators to no avail, with car at idle and thru RPM range the battery reads 11.85v and then with the car turned off it reads 12.10 or slightly higher or lower. There is a lil square device on solenoid, is that an external volt regulator?

Where's the little square device you're talking about? If your cars an '88 then it wont have an external voltage regulator unless someone added one for some reason or another. If your battery is reading 12.10v when the car is off you could clean the terminals and check your battery cables for corrosion wherever they're connected. 11.85v when the car is running isn't bad.

Ok the square box thingie is on the battery side of the solenoid as opposed to the starter side! As for the 11.85, that is with nothing running, my battery will die shortly after turning devices on as the charge is insuffecient.. that is atleat my theory....
one note, i have since cleaned all underhood grounds, cleaned terminals and posts also have aftermarket ground cable and I cut that and provided an oxidation free feed from the ground.... i am at wits end with this problem....

It attaches to the solenoid.If it burns it usually burns in half.Feel the wires coming off the solenoid and see if any feel empty.I will check in a few on my car to see which color it is.
