Default Tach rpm reading double?

I had a 140mph gauge cluster in my '90. Speedometer wasn't working and I had an 85mph cluster laying around. I swapped it out and now my speedometer works but my tach is running at about double. Idles at about 1300rpms for example. Worked fine on the old cluster. Is this due to the 85mph cluster or is something amiss?

the 85 mph cluster most likely is from a 4cyl car..you'll need a 5.0 one or swap out the tach portion and swap in your 5.0 tach..easy way to tell is a 4cyl tach will go to 6k where as a 5.0 goes to 7k

Yep, only goes to 6k. Not sure if anyone tells you this but you are, imo, the most helpful member on here and you do it in a non-condescending manner. Just thought I'd pass that along for this help and all the help you've given me in the past. I mean all that in a strictly non-gay way.
