95% of the time that is the problem. i used the tape fix on mine for months. It works just the same. eventually it wears out. i also have a spare latch kicking around if anyone really needs one. PM me. I try to grab latches and strikes off every junk Mustang i see.

try adjusting the striker first and if that doesnt work you may wanna look into buying a new latch!!
