Default Electrical Issues!!!! Help Pl

My 1990 5.0 GT seems to kill my battery if I don't drive her for a week.

I don't think it's my alternater because if the battery has a charge any charge she runs perfectly. No loss of headlamps or power.

But,a few years back I replaced the voltage regulator and wonder if maybe that has gone bad on me.

Also - my stereo is wired to be able to work even with ignition off key out. Since it is a face off I assume that when the face is off the power to it is off. However, I wonder if maybe my stereo could still be drawing current.

Lastly if I am driving at night and flip on the driving lights about 30mins later my headlamps will flick off until I turn off the driving lamps.

I want to take her in and get a check up ~ but can almost see the mechanics dollar sign eyes light up...

Any help or suggustions is appreciated.

Go to a parts store and have them check your battery and your alternator on your car. Also, your stereo should have a power on at all times and a key on only power, you should re-wire it to prevent any possible power drains.

Ya check all your wires to see if they are hot, use a electrical detector rod thing.

The problem with your lights is a bad light switch, they have a circut breaker in them that trips if there is too much current, the breaker will reset itself when it cool off.Sometimes the breaker goes bad and trips too early, you just need to replace the light switch,it's very easy to replace.
